First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated ₦1 billion to victims of the recent deadly attacks in Yelwata, Guma LGA of Benue State. The donation was announced during her condolence visit to the state on Tuesday.

Over 100 residents were reportedly killed overnight on June 13 and 14 by armed attackers. The First Lady said the funds, given through her Renewed Hope Initiative, would help survivors rebuild and support displaced children’s education.

She was received in Makurdi by Governor Hyacinth Alia and other officials. During the event, Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, described the attacks as a “genocidal war” and urged the federal government to act.

Governor Alia called for state policing and national ranching policies to curb recurring violence. Mrs Tinubu also pledged to collaborate with the Nasarawa State First Lady on long-term solutions.

She handed over the cheque to the governor during a brief ceremony at the Government House.
