The Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown its support behind Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, upholding the Court of Appeal’s ruling on December 20, 2024.
The opposition governors made their position known regarding the ongoing tussle for the party’s National Secretary position between Senator Samuel Anyanwu and former National Youth Leader Ude-Okoye. This was part of a seven-point communiqué issued at the end of their meeting, which was held at the Delta State Government House in Asaba.
The governors urged the National Working Committee (NWC) and other organs of the party to recognize the decision of the appellate court.
“The Forum noted with delight the ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis in the National Working Committee regarding the position of the National Secretary and reaffirmed its support for the Court of Appeal judgment. Consequently, the Forum advised the NWC to set up the machinery for the effective implementation of the court judgment,” the communiqué reads.
The meeting, which was presided over by the Forum’s Chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, also had in attendance Governors Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Pastor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa).
Others in attendance included Senator Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Dr. Peter Mbah (Enugu), Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Barr. Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Dr. Agbu Kefas (Taraba), and Dr. Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).
