Agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were not seen in a number of polling units during Saturday’s by-election in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.
A visit by our reporter to polling centres in Oluku, Owina, and Eronseyi Primary School showed that only representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were present to monitor the exercise.
When contacted, the state PDP caretaker committee chairman, Toni Azeigbemi, insisted that the party had agents deployed across several polling units.
“We have polling agents for this election. After all, during the 2023 elections, Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, did not have agents in many polling units, yet he still won in those places,” Azeigbemi said.
