The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members across the country will soon start receiving a monthly allowance of ₦77,000.
Speaking in Abuja during the commissioning of a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance Company, Ahmed revealed that all arrangements for the increased allowance have been finalized. He reassured corps members that their security and welfare remain his top priority and that they will receive all the benefits they deserve by 2025.
“I am committed to ensuring that the welfare and security of corps members are never compromised,” the DG emphasized.
The staff bus, donated by Capital Express Insurance, is intended to ease transportation challenges for NYSC staff. Ahmed acknowledged that both staff and corps members have often expressed difficulties in commuting to and from their offices.
“This bus will significantly reduce the transportation challenges faced by our staff. It is a welcome development, and we appreciate the continuous support of Capital Express Insurance,” Ahmed said.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Express Insurance Company, Mr. Matthew Ogwezhi, highlighted the longstanding partnership between the company and the NYSC. He described the donation as part of their commitment to supporting the scheme’s activities.
Ogwezhi noted that the rising cost of fuel and transportation in Abuja had made commuting increasingly difficult for many, adding that the donation was aimed at alleviating this burden.
“Our partnership with the NYSC is built on mutual support and a shared commitment to societal development. The legacy of any organization is the positive impact it makes, and we believe in giving back to the community,” Ogwezhi said.
The donation is expected to improve daily operations for the NYSC staff while underscoring the value of public-private partnerships in addressing pressing challenges faced by government institutions.
