The NDLEA has arrested 60-year-old Okpara Paul Chigozie, a wanted drug kingpin, at his Isheri hideout in Lagos. He had been on the run since 2019.
His arrest followed the interception of his alleged courier, Achebe Kenneth, who was caught with over 8kg of cocaine and meth hidden in a Toyota Sienna.
A raid on Okpara’s home uncovered more drugs, bringing the total to over 11kg.
In separate operations, NDLEA also arrested a passenger at Lagos Airport with tramadol and rohypnol hidden in his luggage, and seized cannabis disguised as cereal bound for Pakistan.
A hotel in Ogudu, Lagos, was also raided, leading to the arrest of a man selling drug-laced edibles. Three vehicles were recovered.
NDLEA says the clampdown on drug syndicates is ongoing.
