The Nigerian military has confirmed the destruction of a logistics base belonging to the terrorist group Lakurawa in Sokoto through precision airstrikes conducted on Christmas Day.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, clarified that the deaths of 10 civilians resulted from secondary explosions triggered by materials stored at the terrorists’ base, including hand cartridges and explosives.

“The airstrike hit the terrorists’ logistics base, which led to secondary explosions. These caused the casualties reported, not the airstrike itself,” Buba explained.

He emphasized that the operation was guided by extensive intelligence to minimize civilian harm, adding that the strikes successfully neutralized the terrorists’ key infrastructure and several combatants. Survivors were said to have fled the area, taking advantage of their familiarity with the terrain.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have eliminated Alhaji Ma’oli, a notorious terrorist leader in Zamfara, whose activities had terrorized local communities in the Bilbis district of Tsafe Local Government Area. Ma’oli was known for imposing illegal levies on residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, and Magazawa.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining security and thwarting terrorist activities in affected regions.
