The crisis at the Lagos State House of Assembly escalated on Monday when security operatives, including DSS officials and police, sealed the offices of Speaker Mojisola Meranda, her deputy, and the Clerk.
Amid the commotion, a leaked memo surfaced, allegedly written by Acting Clerk ATB Ottun, revealing that the DSS was invited to prevent an alleged plot to forcefully reinstate impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
The letter, dated February 14, 2025, was addressed to the DSS Director and other security heads in Lagos. It warned of a credible security threat and requested enhanced security measures from February 16 to block any unauthorized takeover.
With tensions high, the leaked memo has sparked further debate over the Assembly’s leadership battle.
