Two factory workers in the Ikosi area of Lagos were rescued on Saturday after becoming trapped in a diesel reservoir during maintenance work. The swift response of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the state fire service ensured their safe evacuation.

According to a statement by LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. when one worker accidentally fell into the reservoir while performing repairs. The second worker reportedly got trapped while attempting to rescue his colleague.

“Both victims sustained severe conditions and were immediately given first aid, including CPR, before being transported to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) for further treatment,” Oke-Osanyintolu explained.

Emergency responders have secured the scene and are conducting assessments to prevent future incidents. Authorities emphasized the importance of enhanced safety measures to avert similar occurrences.

Further investigations are underway to determine the precise circumstances leading to the accident.
