Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reacted after the police declared him wanted over an alleged assault on officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).
The Ogun State Police Command had accused Portable of leading a violent attack on government officials carrying out their duties.
In a series of Instagram rants on Tuesday, the singer claimed he was being targeted for wearing a vest featuring Senator Adeola Solomon (Yayi). He also alleged he suffers from a mental illness and is receiving treatment at Aro Hospital.
“I fear the government. I’m a federal government liability. I’m a madman; I have medications I take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital—I have a card certifying me as one of their patients,” he said.
Meanwhile, on February 6, the police arraigned nine of his associates before a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta for allegedly assaulting planning officials. The suspects, aged 19 to 28, pleaded not guilty to charges of felony, assault, and intent to cause harm while armed with cutlasses and guns. They were granted bail of N5 million each, with the case adjourned until March 17.
