Hisbah operatives in Kano rescued 16 underage girls from suspected traffickers at Unguwa Uku luxury bus station.
Deputy Commandant Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar revealed that the girls were being taken to Lagos, with plans to move them to Benin Republic, Ghana, and eventually Arab countries using fake passports.
“These girls, all underage, were at risk of being sold, forced into prostitution, or made slaves. Some might not even survive the journey,” Abubakar said.
The victims include nine from Kano, four from Katsina, two from Jigawa, and one from Borno. Abubakar urged parents to remain vigilant and warned against the dangers of trafficking, calling it modern-day slavery.
