Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared a two-week holiday for civil servants in celebration of Christmas and the New Year, from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, to Monday, January 6, 2025.

During his Christmas broadcast from Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia emphasized the significance of the holiday as a time for reflection, gratitude, and family bonding. He praised the dedication of the Benue workforce and noted that the extended break is a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to the well-being of state employees.

“This season reminds us of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose teachings inspire love, unity, and service to humanity. It is a time to celebrate, reflect, and strengthen our communal ties,” he said.

The governor assured residents that essential services would remain operational throughout the holiday. Agencies providing critical services, including security, healthcare, and energy, have been directed to make in-house arrangements to ensure uninterrupted operations.

He also urged citizens to use the holiday to foster unity, visit loved ones, and engage in cultural celebrations that strengthen community bonds. Governor Alia concluded by extending warm wishes to all Benue residents, expressing hope for a prosperous and peaceful 2025.
