A UK court has sentenced four Nigerian nationals to prison for their involvement in a violent street fight in Leicester, during which an 18-year-old man was stabbed.
According to Leicestershire Police, the incident occurred in the early hours of November 4, 2021, and involved weapons including knives and a baseball bat. The victim sustained stab injuries requiring hospital treatment.
Following extensive investigations involving CCTV analysis, phone records, and public appeals, the suspects were identified and brought to trial.
On November 14, after a six-week trial, the court handed the following sentences:
- Destiny Ojo, 21, received seven years for violent disorder, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and committing GBH with intent.
- Habib Lawal, 21, was sentenced to five years for similar charges.
- Ridwanulahi Raheem, 21, was sentenced to three years for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.
- Joshua Davies-Ero, 21, received two years for violent disorder.
A fifth defendant, Justin Asamoah, 22, previously pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and will be sentenced on November 22.
Police emphasized the seriousness of the offences and their commitment to bringing justice to those involved in violent crimes.
