The Federal Government has approved an increase in the cost of obtaining a Nigerian passport, effective September 1, 2025.

This was announced on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), A.S. Akinlabi.

According to the new rates, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with ten-year validity will cost ₦200,000.

Akinlabi explained that the review is aimed at maintaining the quality and security features of the Nigerian standard passport.

However, the new charges apply only to applications made within Nigeria. Fees for Nigerians applying from abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page (five years) and $230 for the 64-page (ten years).

The Immigration Service assured Nigerians that it remains committed to providing quality service while ensuring passports remain accessible to citizens.
