Workers in the FCT area councils, including primary school teachers, have suspended their strike following an agreement between the FCT chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the six area council chairmen.
The strike, which began on December 1, 2024, was over the non-implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage. After extensive deliberations, an MoU was signed, committing the council chairmen to begin wage implementation in January 2025 and settle five months’ arrears by February.
The NLC has directed workers to resume duties on December 12, 2024.
