Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed reports linking him to the chairmanship of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), describing the claims as fake and mischievous.
Fani-Kayode said he had no knowledge or interest in football administration and insisted that he was never approached or nominated for the position.
He stressed that even if such an offer were made, he would have respectfully declined.
In a statement posted on his verified social media handles, the former minister expressed concern over the circulation of fabricated quotes by what he described as “419 and criminal blogs.”
“I know nothing about the NFF, I have no interest in the NFF or who leads it, I have no interest in football and thankfully I have not been approached or nominated for such a position by anyone,” he said.
“I am not a footballer and I could not care less who the NFA Chairman is or will be. The whole thing is deeply insulting and I urge the blogs attributing these fake quotes to desist and leave me out of their mess”.
He urged members of the public to disregard the reports, which he described as a deliberate attempt to push a hidden agenda.
He maintained that any authentic statement from him can only be found on his official website, femifanikayode.org, or through his verified X, Facebook and Instagram pages.
“Anything outside of these platforms is fake, and I urge members of the public to read such reports with caution,” he said.
Fani-Kayode, who served as Minister of Aviation under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has in recent years been active in political commentary and advocacy, often using his social media platforms to clarify positions and respond to issues.
