Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed warnings that political opponents plan to arrest and detain him—allegedly in an NSA office reminiscent of the treatment of former CBN Governor Emefiele. In a post on X, El-Rufai claimed he and his associates have been targeted with threats intended to force him into self-exile.

“I have been warned of plans to arrest me with baseless allegations, but I have nothing to hide and will return to Nigeria regardless,” he stated. He added that he has paused his academic pursuits to focus on confronting these threats and emphasized that past arrests for expressing his views did not stop his political career.

The controversy has ignited a heated debate on social media between El-Rufai and members of the NSA camp, following conflicting claims about statements made in a viral TikTok video. Despite the discord, El-Rufai remains resolute, insisting that his return is imminent and that he will not be intimidated by any attempt to silence him.
