The Humanity Development and Empowerment Organisation (HDEO), also called the Lenders Association, has called on the federal government to remit over N12 billion in loans deducted from civil servants’ salaries but not credited to lenders.

Outgoing President Dr. Osita Nebolisa urged the new executives, led by Mr. Dele Apanisile, to resolve the issue with the Office of the Accountant-General and the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).

Dr. Nebolisa revealed that during his tenure, over N6.2 billion in loans had been disbursed to more than 2,400 federal workers. He highlighted the signing of a Service Level Agreement with the Accountant-General’s office in 2023 to ensure fair access to credit while safeguarding stakeholders’ interests.

The incoming executives pledged to prioritize recovering unremitted funds and building on previous achievements.
