APC Slams PDP Over Allegations on Kaduna Senator’s Alleged Assassination Attempt

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for making unverified and baseless accusations regarding the alleged assassination attempt on Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, who represents Kaduna Central in the National Assembly.

In a statement issued by the APC State Secretary, Alhaji Yahaya Baba Pate, on Friday, the party urged the PDP to focus on fulfilling its role as a constructive opposition party rather than spreading unfounded propaganda.

The statement came in response to claims made by the PDP that the APC was involved in the alleged attack on Senator Usman, a claim the ruling party strongly denied. According to the APC, the allegations were “false and absurd.” The party also pointed out that the Kaduna Police Command had reported that Senator Usman had neither filed a formal complaint nor cooperated with ongoing investigations, despite multiple attempts by the police to reach him.

“Given that Senator Usman has been unresponsive to police inquiries, it is perplexing how the PDP arrived at such unfounded conclusions implicating the APC,” the statement read.

The APC also called on both Senator Usman and the PDP to fully cooperate with the police investigation, warning that failing to do so could give credence to suspicions that the alleged incident was fabricated to damage the APC’s reputation and create unnecessary tensions in the state.

“Such actions would only serve to derail the peace and progress Kaduna has been experiencing under Senator Uba Sani’s leadership,” the APC added, emphasizing the state’s positive strides under the current administration.

The statement further condemned the PDP for repeatedly issuing unfounded statements that lacked evidence and accuracy, which the APC said were damaging public discourse.

“Kaduna State is on a path of growth and stability, and no amount of false narratives will disrupt this progress,” the APC concluded, reiterating its commitment to delivering democratic benefits to the people of Kaduna in an environment of peace and stability.

The APC also echoed Governor Uba Sani’s declaration that 2025 would be a “Year of Fulfillment” for the state, adding that the party would not be distracted by baseless allegations or provocations.
