Abuja Hotel Backs Out, Blocks ADC Coalition Event

Plans to unveil the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the political platform for Nigeria’s major opposition alliance hit a snag on Wednesday after an Abuja hotel cancelled the event at the last minute.

The unveiling, scheduled to hold at Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, was called off after the hotel management withdrew its approval early Wednesday, citing an “internal compliance matter.”

In a message shared by PDP chieftain Dele Momodu on Instagram, the hotel said, “We regret to inform you that due to an internal compliance matter… we are unable to proceed with hosting your scheduled event.”

The decision has raised eyebrows within opposition circles. Salihu Lukman, one of the coalition leaders, expressed outrage, accusing the hotel of violating a valid and fully-paid contract. “This is unacceptable,” he said. “You must allow the event to hold as agreed. This is not negotiable.”

Despite the disruption, the event is expected to continue at a new venue in the Federal Capital Territory.
