Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Construction Limited, Sijibomi Ogundele, has responded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declaring him wanted over allegations of fund diversion and money laundering.
The Lagos-based businessman explained that the case in question involves a contractual dispute between his company and the Enugu State Government, for which, according to him, the state government has sought legal redress.
He said: “I’m not a thief. I’m not a fugitive. This is a contract between my company and the Enugu State Government. They asked me to help them build a couple of things, which was very interesting. I was going to the state every week.
“In the middle of the project, the governor said he wanted to build a city and the tallest building in Nigeria.
“I reached an agreement with the government after they took us to court. Now they’ve declared me wanted and destroyed the company I built. I’m going to the EFCC office to clear my name. In the last five years, prices have gone crazy. Something I could have done in two years was delayed.”
Ogundele was declared wanted in a notice published on the official X handle of the EFCC on Friday.
