Ekiti State Sports Council has received kits donated by the Nigerian Squash Federation after a recently held two days coaching clinic on grassroot sport development in Abuja.
Chairman, Ekiti State Sports Council, Mrs Olusola Osetoba, received the kits on behalf of the council in her office at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Bamidele Olumide, who represented the sports council at the two days coaching clinic presented the kits to the Council Chairman.
The Media Officer to the chairman, Gbenga Adeleye, said the kits presented were, five squash rackets, four goggles and one packet of squash balls.
Osetoba thanked the Nigerian Squash Federation for their kind gesture and promised that the sports council will make use of the kits appropriately.
In a related development, Osetoba has commended the initiative of the Ekiti Kete Little League Baseball and Softball towards making the sports a force to reckon with in the state.
She said “Baseball and Softball is a little known game in Ekiti but with the initiative to bring the game to the consciousness of the people of the state, we will support you towards achieving this fit.
“Like I said in some quarters, the government cannot do everything but as an enabler, we encourage you not to relent in complementing government efforts towards developing sports like you are doing with Baseball and Softball.”
“We want to engage more youths in sports, and with Baseball and Softball coming at this time, it will go a long way to reduce the high rate of crime and insecurity currently facing our country,” said Osetoba.
