NYSC Foundation rejects proposal to scrap scheme

The National Youth Service Corps Foundation has called on the National Assembly to look for ways to help strengthen and improve the institutional gaps of the NYSC rather than scrap it.

Addressing reporters in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the foundation, Ventim Bako, said the National Assembly and Nigerians should look at the benefits which the scheme had brought to the country and consider improving it activities.

He noted that elections in Nigeria were conducted with ease because of the assistance of the corps members.

He said the scheme had also intervened in the areas of education, health and development of their host communities.
