MFM pull down Pillars as Rangers win ‘Oriental derby’ in Enugu

MFM FC have secured their 11th win of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season following yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Kano Pillars at the Agege Township stadium.

The home side went in front with a 17th-minute goal scored by Tosin Olubolola against the run of play.

MFM doubled their lead in the 64th minute through Adeyinka Najeem before Rabiu Ali pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.

In the same vein, Enugu Rangers won the ‘Oriental derby’ in Enugu as they defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 to keep their hopes of a continental ticket alive.

The home side had chased the game after going down to Yakub Hammed 43rd minute goal but a goal each by Christian Nnaji and Elijah ensured the ‘Flying antelopes’ picked the maximum points.

Elsewhere, Rivers United spanked Plateau United 3-1. Godwin Aguda, Malachi Ohawuma and Shedrack Oghali scored a goal each before Andrew Ikefe scored the consolation goal for the visitors in the 75th minute.

In Aba, it was a tough game as Enyimba who were without the services of influential player Iwuala Anayo came from behind to earn a point.

David Chimezie had put Warri Wolves in front in the 72nd minute, but six minutes later, Austin Oladapo scored the equalizer as the match ended 1-1.

Relegation bound Adamawa United lost 0-3 at FC IfeanyiUbah, Jigawa Golden Stars suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Katsina United while Sunshine Stars piped visiting Wikki Tourists 1-0 to keep hopes of survival alive.

At the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi, a brace by Martin Ossy and a goal by Monday Akile was enough for Lobi Stars to beat Heartland 3-0.

Week 30 matches end today with a double header in Uyo where the Dakkada and Kwara United fixture will usher in the top of the table clash between Akwa United and Nasarawa United.
