Title chasing Kano Pillars will battle MFM this evening in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 30 fixture in Lagos without their inspirational player, Ahmed Musa.
The Super Eagles captain has been instrumental to Kano Pillars impressive performances since returning to the club at the beginning of the second stanza of the league.
Although he is yet to score, Musa has provided assists that resulted in important victories for the club.
He has so far played only two away matches for Kano Pillars at neighbours, Katsina United and against Plateau United in Jos.
However, when Pillars take on MFM today, the former CSKA Moscow and Leicester City striker will be missing.
The Spokesman for Kano Pillars, Malam Idris Rilwanu Malikawa told Daily Trust yesterday that Musa is not with the team in Lagos because he is in Abuja to attend to a personal matter.
He said after the week 29 match with Jigawa Golden Stars, arrangements were made for the star player to fly to Lagos for the clash with MFM but something came up that altered his plans.
“Ahmed Musa is not in Lagos because he is attending to a special engagement in Abuja. There were plans for him to travel to Lagos by air for the match but he sought and obtained permission to travel to Abuja.
“Although he is not in the team, Pillars are not built around one player. Others will take up the responsibility,” he said.
Pillars are presently in third position on the NPFL table with 52 points.
