The rescheduled NPFL MatchDay 21 fixture between Abia Warriors and Enyimba will continue today after it was suspended due to the heavy rainfall at the Okigwe Stadium yesterday.
The game which had begun under rainy conditions saw the home side dominating early proceedings.
In the 8th minute, Warriors’ Daniel Wotlai attempt at goal was saved by Enyimba and Super Eagles goalkeeper, John Noble.
Two minutes later, Wotlai who was the brightest spark in Warriors’ attack dribbled past two Enyimba players close to the box to pass to an unmarked Utibe Arit, who failed to score after a weak shot at goal.
The Umuahia warlords were made to pay for the misses in the 12th minute, the away side took the lead when Victor Mbaoma scored from Austin Oladapo’s assist.
However, on the 23rd minute, the match official stopped and decided the game could not continue due to soggy conditions in Okigwe and will continue at the same venue by 8am today.
The first leg fixture ended 1- 0 in favour of Enyimba at the Enyimba Township Stadium in Aba in the club’s first league match of the current 2020/2021 NPFL season.
