‘FG’s visitation panels not for witch-hunt’

The chairman of the visitation panel for the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA), Prof Duro Oni, made this known in Offa during a visit to the institution

The presidential visitation panels for Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education across the country is not a witch-hunting ground for feuding rectors and lecturers to settle scores.

The chairman of the visitation panel for the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA), Prof Duro Oni, made this known in Offa during a visit to the institution.

Prof Oni, who used the occasion to call for memoranda from any member of institution or the public, assured that information volunteers would be protected by the panel.

According to him, “The essence of the exercise is not to witch-hunt anybody or for people who have lost out in certain instances in the race to be rector, registrars or bursars.

“People should not see this as an opportunity to take revenge against those who were duly appointed. We should make it very clear that our job is to listen to everyone.”

Responding, the Rector Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Olatunji, pledged to give the panel maximum support, adding that the last time the polytechnic had a visitation panel was in 2012.

Dr. Olatunji also wants the discrimination between B.sc and HND certificate to be addressed and lamented that Nigeria polytechnics were not enjoying the same privilege with the universities.
