Expert laments dearth of radiologists in Nigeria

A consultant radiologist/sinologist with St Bridget’s X-ray Centre, Benin, Edo State, Dr Sam Enukegwu, has lamented that the dearth of radiologists was affecting laboratory services and practice in the country.

Dr Enukegwu revealed this while launching a book titled, St Bridgets X-ray Radiological Cases Atlas with Clinical Direction and Aids to Medical Sinology Techniques: The St Bridget X-ray Centre Experience, authored by radiologists in Benin City.

He noted that there was about 30 per cent of qualified radiologists practicing in Nigeria as many had gone abroad to seek greener pastures and better equipment to guide them in their work.

Enukegwu added that the book would do Nigerians a whole lot of good as it documented Nigerian cases in a book format so that young radiologists could read and learn from them and also get better images to guide them in their work.
