Drugs-related cases account for 1 of 3 case files in Kano high court — NDLEA

One out of every three case files brought before Kano State High Court borders around a drug-related offence, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has revealed.

The commander of the agency in Kano, Likita Isah, who revealed this Thursday during a media interactive session for 2021 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, added that it was in view of this finding that the state judiciary promised to help speed up the adjudication of drugs-related case.

“According to what the judges told us, one out of every three cases that are filed here at Kano State High Court comes from the NDLEA,” he said.

Admitting that the challenge of drug abuse remains a daunting one in Kano, the NDLEA boss noted that it was unfortunate that while the society frowns against other intoxicants like alcohol “That you can perceive the smell but youths tend to deceive themselves that should they take anything that does not smell, they may not be recognised as someone that has taken drugs.
