The security situation in Cross Rivers State has improved a lot according to a frontline chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate Past Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Chief Akin Ricketts.
The APC chieftain made the observation while on a routine visit to his hometown, Ugep in the Central Senatorial zone of the state over the weekend.
He said his home state is enjoying relative safety and security compared to other neighbouring states like Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom and Rivers State.
He also praised Governor Ben Ayade for what he described as the state chief executive’s maverick and highly innovative approach to security and sustainable development.
He further expressed optimism that the relative peace and security enjoyed in the state will make Cross River a preferred destination of both local and foreign direct investment as well as tourism.
He said: ”I am home as usual and can see the peace in our communities which is clearly different from what we hear in other places around us.
”We all need to be grateful to our dear governor. I implore him to sustain it and even do more. Our people especially the youths must team up with the governor and realize that peace and are important conditions for development.”
