3 killed, houses burnt in Oyo

Two residents of Ajaawa community in Ogbomosho, Ogooluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State were reportedly killed on Wednesday morning.

Daily Trust learnt that some suspected kidnappers have been threatening the residents of the area and taking ransom before releasing them.

According to our source, the kidnappers recently attempted to kidnap Arabaawo of Ajaawa who is the leader of the traditionalists in the town but failed.

Our correspondent learnt that a butcher, Lamidi Eleran, saw those who attempted to kidnap the Arabaawo in the town.

According to our source, the butcher was killed in a village by those who attempted to kidnap the traditionalist.

The death of Eleran according to our source led to a serious protest held in the front of one Ade master’s house.

The source said Ade master who was not comfortable with the protest shot one of the protesters.

Daily Trust learnt that Ade master was one of the people vying for the stool of Alajaawa in the town.

Our correspondent learnt that when the protester died, youths in the town took to the street and burnt all his properties including hotels in the town.

Our source said: “It is true. Ade master who is also vying for the kingship in the town caused the crisis. The story you heard was true. He has gone out of the town now. All his houses and hotels have been burnt. He killed a young man, for God’s sake. Why must you kill among armless protesters?” he queried.

Meanwhile, a young man was on Wednesday killed when hoodlums in Bornphoto, Agbeni and Gege areas of Ibadan, the state capital engaged in a free for all around 3 am.

Our correspondent gathered that the two factions that clashed are disciples of two notorious hoodlums who were recently killed in Ibadan, the state capital.

The police public relations officer, Adewale Osifeso, who promised to call back later, rejected calls put through to him while text messages sent to him were ignored. However, a police source in the area confirmed the news to our correspondent.
