At least 100 youths have received the Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) award for their outstanding performance in various disciplines.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who initiated RAYLF, promised to keep encouraging and motivating African youths.
At the event held at the Oduduwa Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Oba Ogunwusi charged the recipients to keep adding value to themselves and make Africa and the black race proud of them, urging them to be good role models for other youths.
Addressing the youths, the monarch said, “It is very important for you to know that the future is in your hands. Stop complaining, don’t let us complain again, let us all work together and make sure we build ourselves to leadership positions. If you have any issue, feel free to knock on my door and I will be there for you.”
The Minister of Youths and Sports, Sunday Dare, said President Muhammadu Buhari had affected the lives of many youths positively through various programmes, and that he would do more.
He said over 5,300 youths had benefited from the N75bn Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and that the president had also set up the National Youth Committee to move round the country and collate the demands of youths.
The minister said all the 100 awardees would be granted accelerated approval to be able to draw funds from the NYIF, noting that each of them could benefit between N250,000 and N10 million.
